  1. This menu will allow you to install WordCruncher
  2. on the most common hardware configurations.  If none of the
  3. selections matches your hardware configuration, please go to
  4. Appendix A of user's manual for additional instructions.

  6. Why install at all?
  7. WordCruncher needs to be aware of where it is working, and must
  8. be able to write to data files it maintains.  Since the CD ROM
  9. disc is a ``read-only device'' (which means you cannot copy any
  10. data onto it or change it in any way), you need to tell
  11. WordCruncher where it can find a read/write drive (a disk drive
  12. where it can write its data files and maintain them, such as a
  13. hard drive or floppy disk).

  15. By going through this install process, you are copying the needed
  16. data files to a read/write disk of your choice.  Once installed,
  17. WordCruncher will always expect to find those data files in the
  18. same place.  Remember, if you change your hardware configuration
  19. you must go through this installation procedure again.

  21. Which Choice is right for you?
  22. WordCruncher needs to know two things:
  23.      1)  What read/write disk you are installing for, and
  24.      2)  Where your CD player is located.
  25. Each menu choice lists these two pieces of information.  The
  26. first piece of information is the read/write disk you are
  27. installing for.  The menu will let you install for floppy drive
  28. A, or for hard drive C.  It is recommended that you install
  29. for your hard drive if you have one.  If you have to install for
  30. your floppy drive A, you need to make sure that every time you
  31. run WordCruncher the disk you used during installation is in 
  32. floppy drive A.

  34. The second piece of information is the location of your CD
  35. player.  The menu selection you choose for installation must be
  36. the location where the CD player is configured on your system.
